Tu No Tienes Alma, Winner of Best Song and Record of The Year At the Sixth Latin Grammy Awards

Sanz At The Sixth Latin Grammy Awards

November 10, 2005, Los Angeles, CA -- Popular singer/songwriter Alejandro Sanz, accepted two prestigeous awards at the 6th Latin Grammys on November 3, 2005. He dedicated the first win to his late father and went on stage again to accept his second trophy.
"I dedicate it to all of them who inspired me to do music," says Sanz.

Tu No Tienes Alma, the single off of Sanz' Greatest Hits released in 2004 by Warner Intl. was co-produced with long-time collaborator and musician/arranger Lulo Perez. The previous album, also co-produced by the duo, "No Es Lo Mismo" swept the Grammy show last year winning awards for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Album. This is Sanz' 14th Latin Grammy Award making the artist who penned all the songs, one of the top winners of Grammys. Sanz also has an American Grammy Award.

In its first week worldwide, "No Es Lo Mismo" generated ONE MILLION in sales and debuted at #1 in Spain, where it sold 500,000 copies, #1 in Argentina and Mexico, #3 in Chile and #2 on the Billboard Latin album charts in the U.S. Sanz recorded the album in his native Spain, as well as Miami's Hit Factory with veteran guitarist Michael Landau and a jazzy rhythm section of Vinnie Colaiuta (drums) and Anthony Jackson (bass). Flamenco legend Paco de Lucia also makes a guest appearance. Sanz's previous efforts have sold nearly 20 million copies worldwide, and he's enjoyed an increase in popularity in the U.S. after cleaning up at the Latin Grammys two years in a row. Rafa Sardina who accepted an award for best-engineered album for "No Es Lo Mismo" last year engineered the track.

"Our work together is a fusion of cultures, from Andalucia to Havana, from Mexico to Madrid. It's an artistic groundbreaking effort with strong flamenco flavors," says co-producer, Perez.

The Sixth Latin Grammy Awards ceremony, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeleles in November, was aired nationally on Univision for the first time, the country's top Spanish-language network. For a complete list of winners, click here.
