Scott has won 7 Grammy awards. One each for Tom Petty'sWildflowers, Santana's SUPERNATURAL, the Foo Fighters ONE BY ONE, the Tedeschi Trucks band's REVELATOR, and three for the Dixie Chicks TAKING THE LONG WAY. He has been nominated 17 times. He also mixed Matchbox Twenty's "More Than You Think You Are" which reached a no. 6 on the US Billboard 200 and had two Top 10 singles on the US Hot 100.
In 2013 Scott participated in the movie Sound City, by Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters),[1] along with many others such as Paul McCartney, Butch Vig, Neil Young and Tom Petty. The movie was about the Neve console and its many visitors over the years, through the studio of Sound City, which by the way was where Nirvana's Nevermind was recorded.
Scott opened PLYRZ Studios in Valencia, California in January of 2006. Located just 25 minutes north of Hollywood, PLYRZ features a classic Neve 8048 recording console and rooms full of vintage instruments, outboard gear and microphones. The two-story, 5000-square foot warehouse with multiple rooms is filled with Scott's collection of vintage drums, amps, guitars, keyboards and recording equipment.

Jim Scott produced, engineered and mixed Joe Satriani's album, Shapeshifting, released in 2020. He produced, engineered and mixed Lauren Monroe's debut album, and co-produced, engineered and mixed Tedeschi Trucks Band's newly released album, Signs. He mixed Lucinda William's album " Car Wheels on a gravel road."
Jim is currently co-producing Highway Butterfly: The Songs Of Neal Casal, a compilation album featuring over 25 artists recording the songs of Casal, who passed away in 2019. Artists taking part include Billy Strings, Shooter Jennings, Leslie Mendelson,
