Eva Reistad is a Grammy award-winning audiophile and sound scientist known for atmos, film score, and record mixing. While her diet consists of mostly pizza, this does not debilitate her from logging endless hours in studios recording and mixing all genres of music.
Eva got the engineering bug during her college years at a jazz camp. "They also had music studios, where I first witnessed other musicians recording. This made the concept of recording music start buzzing in my head," she says. After graduating from an audio school, she moved to Los Angeles to work at Nightbird Recording Studios. "Musicians like Lil Wayne and Avril Lavigne would often stay at the hotel and come downstairs to work. Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, John Legend, were a few names that would stop in to work," she adds. Her next gig was an assisting job at Hans Zimmer's studio, Remote Control. "I’d always been a fan. I’d even written a paper in college about The Lion King’s ‘Stampede," says Reistad, whose work has taken her to some of the world's top studios to include Amethyst Hall and Abey Road. Eva has since worked on records such as deadmau5, Avril Lavigne, and Tiesto, and film scores for movies such as Planet Earth III, Dune II, Mulan, Wonder Woman, 007 – No Time to Die, Aquaman, Captain Marvel, and a whole lot more.
“I worked on the movie score for Dune across the span of a whole year! A few months on the score, while Alan Meyerson mixed and I assisted, then about a month and a half where I mixed an extra hour (or more) of additional music that legendary composer Hans Zimmer wanted to release called The Dune Sketchbook. We mixed the score and Sketchbook for the Dolby Atmos release for Apple Music," adds Reistad. In 2020, Eva got the chance to work with world-renowned artist and composer AR Rahman and director Shekhar Kapuran on a L-ISA system for Why The Musical, the biggest musical at Dubai Expo 2020, in the Al Wasl dome.
Eva is also credited for her Atmos work, a romp into the Sherlock Holmes universe, as imagined by the award-winning writer of film, television, and audio fiction, Charles Kindinger (Kill Switch). Charles is also the executive producer of the Audible Original Moriarty: The Devil’s Game, The Silent Order. It follows Moriarty on a mission to prove his innocence, narrated by a star-studded cast to include Helen Mirren.
